History on Dead Man’s Curve ST RT 125 & 222

The stretch of road that intersects 222 and 125 is known for its bloody history. Before 1968 the road was known for it’s hilly curve that lead into Bantam Ohio. During the late 1800’s and early 1900’s many horses had a hard time climbing up this curvy hill. Normally falling down the hill and bringing the buggy with it. Most people died during the fall. Multiple fatal car wrecks were also reported to happen as well as it lead into 1968. Thus giving the name, Dead Man’s Curve. However in late 1968, due to the amount of accidents, the road was reconstructed, building a crossroads that connected Bethel, Bantam, Amelia, and St. Rt. 222. They even had a ribbon cutting stating no more wrecks will occur. However a few months later in 1969, the first fatal car wreck happened.

Five teenagers were speeding down the highway in a Impala, when they were suddenly stuck by a Green Roadrunner going 100 MPH. Everyone was killed in the wreck except for one sole survivor. Richard Crawford ended up becoming a Clermont County Historian, and a proud member in the paranormal community. We had a chance to sit down with him, but did not get the interview recorded. We planned to have another interview but he sadly passed in October 2017. He did state however that he lost all his friends in the wreck, and even lost his leg. The sad, tragic wreck was not the end of it’s stories. After this occurred, multiple accounts of a faceless hitchhiker started to appear by the road side. This created more chaos for the people who would drive on Dead Man’s Curve.
Ghostly Claims of Faceless Hitchhiker

Many people have claimed to see the two cars that were involved in the car crash of 1969. They claimed seeing them drive down the road then dissipate before getting to close. Others have claimed to see it parked, even touch the vehicle. But when they turned their backs and looked again it was gone. Others have claimed to see the Hitchhiker with it’s hood up and face gone. Some have stated to see it then dissipate as well. Others have claimed to be chased down by the phantom. One lady even claims to have hit the hitchhiker and before she could stop her car, it was unnaturally up and chasing her car down with supernatural speed. There have also been claims of rocks being thrown at their car. The most common theory is that it is connected to the car wreck of 1969. Some say it is one of those who died during the wreck. A few theories claim that it may have even caused the wreck. Either way the faceless hitchhiker has been around, causing harm, and considered aggressive, be careful while driving down Dead Man’s Curve.
Questionable Evidence
We, as Zodiac Supernatural, went and investigated this spot for claims of high activity. It is said the spirit is most active between 1:20 and 1:40 AM. Zodiac Supernatural made sure to be there exactly at these times to make sure they could get the correct evidence. However, we did not find evidence of the hitchhiker being there, how ever we did find some other things that were strange or help debunk the theories.

High EMF/
Under high powered electric wires is a High Voltage box for this intersection. It is know that high EM waves (Electromagnetic waves) can cause false paranormal occurrences. With this road being just built in 1968 it is possible that a junction like this was placed here as well. Overwhelming EM can easily cause a feeling of being watched. With it on the side of the road imagination can grow with this feeling. However, It is also proven that high powered EM like this can enhance spirits as well. Allowing them to have the chance to manifest better, and/or be more active. It is possible this that this hot spot of power is also powering the spirits of the old fatal crashes.Disappearing Cop/
During our video shoot we walked the path of the hitchhiker, For 30 seconds we had our backs turned, we heard no sound, or movement. When we turned back around a cop had someone pulled over. We got in the car and pulled out of the drive, but by the time we pulled out, the cop and the pulled over car was gone. Seen on video.Animals/
This is just an important note for on lookers at this hot spot. There are many types of animals here in this location. Not all movement is the spirit, it could just be animals in the woods. However please be careful, the animals here are causes of many wrecks on this road. This place is still a hot spot for car wrecks.
